Key highlights

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Saroja Asthana, reviewed the Mulshi Group of Institutes' (MGI) strategic direction, focusing on institutional growth, stakeholder engagement, research impact, curriculum development, branding, faculty-industry exposure, and international collaborations. The previous meeting minutes were approved unanimously.

Dr. Asthana outlined MGI’s strategic priorities, emphasizing Quality and Continuous Improvement, Stakeholder Engagement, Innovation in Teaching and Learning, Industry Collaborations, Internationalization, and Research Impact. Dr. Preetha Menon suggested integrating sustainability into MGI’s vision, while Dr. Dwivedi proposed an 11-point strategy to enhance institutional growth, including assigning specific faculty responsibilities, increasing top student's salary packages, setting clear short- and long-term goals, and ensuring all faculty hold PhDs.

Dr. Dinesh Srivastava highlighted the importance of leveraging the alumni network through branding videos, awards, and funding contributions. Dr. Menon recommended establishing Alumni Centers, and Dr. Dwivedi suggested featuring distinguished alumni testimonials to enhance MGI’s visibility.

For industry collaborations and research funding, Dr. Anurag Asawa and Dr. Manoj Pareek recommended utilizing the Atal Innovation Incubation Center. Dr. Srivastava stressed applying for sponsored projects, while Dr. Menon proposed securing TiE memberships for global networking. Dr. Deepak Shah emphasized strengthening faculty-student industry collaborations.

To enhance research contributions, Dr. Menon suggested annual conferences under a common theme. Dr. Pareek proposed a Research Collegium, and Dr. Asawa recommended focusing on specific research areas to attract funding and academic recognition.

Curriculum enhancements included adding AI, Cybersecurity, Psychological Safety, and Prompt Engineering courses, as recommended by Dr. Deepak Shah, Dr. Clifford Mohan Pai, and Dr. Mahendra Ramdasi. Dr. Pareek suggested integrating Advanced Excel training for data-driven decision-making.

Branding efforts were discussed, with Dr. Asthana presenting MGI’s branding video. Board members recommended including alumni and parent interviews and forming a dedicated social media task force. Dr. Dwivedi stressed strengthening MGI’s online presence.

Faculty-industry exposure initiatives were emphasized by Dr. Dwivedi and Dr. Shah, recommending an exchange program and industry-sponsored research projects. Dr. Menon advocated embedding cutting-edge technology projects into curricula.

International collaborations were presented by Ms. Sonali Kadam, detailing new MoUs and the implementation of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) by 2026. The board appreciated these efforts, with Dr. Menon highlighting COIL’s benefits.

Dr. Asthana announced ICECOM-2025, an international conference on e-commerce, technology, and sustainability, scheduled for May 23-24, 2025. Dr. Menon emphasized creating a research series for consistent publications.

For student development, Dr. Shah and Dr. Pareek proposed a Startup Membership Program, while Dr. Asawa noted challenges in encouraging students from family businesses to pursue entrepreneurship.

Key action items included aligning faculty and curriculum with NEP 2020, securing research funding, strengthening alumni engagement, introducing AI and cybersecurity courses, and forming a social media branding task force. The meeting concluded with remarks and a vote of thanks by Prof. L Botla, followed by informal discussions over hi-tea.
